Most of what
I know about pottery has come from other potters. Experience has been
a great teacher, particularly that which comes from spending time with clay
that may co-operate with me one day, and the next be like an unruly child.
I did not study to be a potter when I was young. I worked with young
people who needed some molding and enjoyed that very much. The
experiences there in that setting has helped me to be more patient with
myself.
God has given
the potter the raw materials to make spectacular things out of rather common
elements-- water, earth, and fire. He is the great creator and I have
the opportunity to meet him in the creative process.
He
is the one who put into us the ability to enjoy beauty. Whether
it is to see beauty in something done, or to become a part of that process.
I want you to enjoy the things you see in this world.
