Many things happen in
and around the studio. I have a friend who threatens to take
pictures of each of the 72 steps she follows from raw clay to finished
piece. I'm not sure there are that many steps, but it is indeed
quite a process that requires patience and practice from the beginning
to end, and there is not much room for error in the journey.![]() My work begins with a clay body which comes from Austin, Texas. It is made by my friends at Armadillo Clay and Supplies. I usually fire my work at cone 10. In Fahrenheit, that is 2381 degrees. I mix my own glazes, so I know the things that are included in the colors. That way I am able to assure customers that heavy metals are not part of what they buy. My pottery is oven safe, microwave safe, and certainly it is dishwasher safe.
