The Raku Experience
In recent months the Japanese technique known as
Raku has captured much of my attention. The process is centuries old,
yet has been developed in the United States for only about 40 years.
The bright lustrous colors cannot be reproduced by conventional methods --
It is high energy pyromania at its best.
Raku ware is porous and is not food safe. It is for decorative appreciation only. If you want to use the Raku ware for flowers or plants I encourage you to use a plastic liner.
I love watching the colors in the pot change and mature right in front of my eyes. You might notice in these pictures how the piece will reflect it's environment. Above are some examples of work that is being produced right now in our studio
